  • Spearheaded System wide use of LeanTaaS iQueue Surgical Scheduling Tool- creating one method of measuring surgical growth and revenue generation  
  • Created and implemented a goal driven challenge to facilities to release all unused surgical blocks to market to surgeons in local markets, filling unused time and increasing revenue 
  • Implemented biweekly facility Perioperative, Market Development Representatives, and Business Ops meetings to ensure data accuracy, identification of available released time, reduction of excess surgeon block and potential growth opportunities
  • Implemented and lead Quarterly Perioperative Governance Councils at facilities to outline growth opportunities with leadership teams
  • Added approximately 2M additional minutes of surgery; 18K additional cases, 20K proactive Block releases, increased surgical fill rate over 15% nationally to 35%  
  • Increased staff room utilization to 78% System wide and added approximately $75M in net contribution margin
  • Established the use of a surgical instrument tracking tool for Surgical Processing Departments (SPD), which enabled the System to adequately track surgical instrument inventory and account for workload.  As a result of the use of instrument tracking, over 850 instrument sets, unused for prior 18 months, were identified and removed - resulting in a $1M savings for the fiscal year - provided the ability to track "Instrument sets and/or Tasks" data, which is proven to be more accurate representation of workload and productivity, then the use of "Minutes of Service"
  • Coordinated the establishment of a System Wide SPD Daily Audit, Basic Orientation for new SPD Technologist and Annual Competencies
  • Worked with system leadership to create a standard Anesthesia contract establishing measurable quality, productivity and supply cost goals - saving over $25M in Anesthesia contract costs across 105 hospitals
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to create system wide policies:
    • Universal Protocols
    • Prevention of Retained surgical items
    • Overlapping Surgery
    • System Perioperative Standard Operating Procedures 
  • Improvements in Cerner’s SurgiNet, Epic’s OpTime platforms and worked to establish baseline design in OpTime for the Systems transition to a single EMR
  • Establishment of a System wide Common Nomenclature Surgical Dictionary to include CPT coding - The use of Surgical dictionaries drastically reduced denials and saved ~$1.2M in lost revenue
  • Created and implemented State specific regulatory education, forms and information, meeting CMS requirements, saving over 100K in denials
  • Partnered with System leadership to create a standard Anesthesia contract establishing measurable quality, productivity and supply cost goals - saving over $25M in Anesthesia Contract costs over 105 hospitals
  • Implemented the expansion of a System-wide Surgical Waste Management Capital Equipment evaluation and procurement; movement from Surgical Blue Wrap to a Surgical Set Container System to reduce waste
  • Coordinated with Executive Quality Board on Patient Safety, Infection Prevention, National Compliance initiatives and Performance Improvement Measures
